Spring Lake boys grab first win of the season with 52-38 romp over winless Orchard View

MUSKEGON – The host Orchard View boys basketball team looked ready battle Friday night, in its non-league game with Spring Lake, taking the 14-10 first-quarter lead.

Unfortunately for the Cardinals (0-5), the Spring Lake Lakers held OV to just 10 points across the second and third quarters to roll to a 52-38 victory, their first of the season.

Spring Lake (1-4) outscored the hosts 28-10 in the middle two quarters, and then matched the Cardinals’ 14-point fourth-quarter effort to coast the win.

Senior center Nick Goeglein and junior guard Kyle Zietlow both finished with a game-high 16 points to lead the Lakers.

Brandon Edwards led the Cardinals with 25 points, while Steven Reese finished with 11 points and seven rebounds in the loss.
