Mardrieka Cook’s 15 points and 13 rebounds got the Muskegon girls basketball squad going Friday night, prompting the Big Reds to the 58-37 OK Black Conference victory over Zeeland East.

The Big Reds jumped out to a 12-3 lead after the first quarter and led 44-26 after three quarters of play.

Senior center Jade Paige also had a strong game for the Big Reds, scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Senior Keiarra Guy added nine points.

Zeeland East was led Casie Curtiss 16 points, while Danielle Schutte added 11 points.

The Muskegon Big Reds will play first place Mona Shores next Friday in an OK Black Conference game with huge implications.
