The Muskegon Community College women defeated Ancilla College 71-49 at home on Monday. Jayhawk defense led to 25 points off Ancilla turnovers.

Quanieshia McBride sparked a slow start by MCC  with eight quick points in just two minutes to give MCC a lead into halftime.

“We started slowly but were jump-started by Quanieshia off the bench,” said MCC coach Rob Recknagel.

MCC led by 22 points late in the second half off of its defense and taking care of the ball. The Jayahwks gave up just three points off of turnovers.

“Sonnie Kurnat played an outstanding floor game and was key at engineering the Jayhawk offense at key moments,” said Recknagel.

Kurnat finished with 10 points and seven assists for MCC (11-7).

Krystal Geers led at both ends of the court for MCC with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Katie Mckinnon scored 13 points and had seven rebounds with four steals for the Jayhawks.
