Blake Siersema’s 31 points and 10 rebounds were enough for Fremont to top Orchard View, 79-54 for another Lakes 8 basketball win on Saturday. The Packers topped the Cardinals for the second straight night after their previous matchup was snowed out.

Fremont jumped out of the gates with a 26-15 first quarter lead and led 69-37 by the fourth quarter.

“We defended and shot very well tonight,” said Fremont coach Pete Zerfas. “Blake Siersema had a huge night and our kids maintained their focus and competed at a high level.”

Dylan Krim nearly snagged a triple double for Fremont with 26 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds. Dan Geeting scored nine points and Jacob Kaastra had eight assists.

“It was different playing the same team in back to back nights but Dylan Krim flirted with a triple double and we have now won 7 of 8 games,” said Zerfas whose team improves to 8-3 overall and 6-1 in the Lakes 8.

Orchard View offense did boast with three players in double figures.

Makari Taylor and Steven Reese scored 13 points apiece for Orchard View. Keyandre Collins put in 11 points and Brandon Edwards scored nine.
