Fruitport advanced to the Class B district semifinals in girls basketball with a 46-43 win over Whitehall on Monday night.

The Trojans will face Oakridge on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. at Orchard View High School.

The Trojans led 13-10 after one quarter and 27-24 at the half.

Fruitport increased its lead to 38-28 after three quarters.

Iyana Brown led Fruitport with 25 points, Francesca Cerniglia had five assists and Caitlin Hughey had five steals.

Emily MacArthur led Whitehall with 14 points and Brandi Balzer added 11.

“Fruitport played an aggressive defense which caused us to speed up our offense and get unfocused. We struggled defensively as well tonight getting caught off our toes, Whitehall coach Rachel Kent said. “Overall the Whitehall girls basketball program had a great season and have made great strides over the course of the last four years. We are planning on building off of this season to continue to develop and grow.”
