A big first half Friday night sealed a share of the Lakes 8 Conference title for the Ludington girls basketball team, as the Orioles dispatched host Orchard View 54-50.

Though Ludington and Spring Lake finish with identical 9-3 conference marks, Orchard View will try to defeat Tri-County tomorrow (February 22) to prevent a three-way tie for the title.

Tri-County is 8-3 in the league.

Orchard View (11-7, 6-5) fell behind early, surrendering a 15-9 Ludington (13-6, 9-3) advantage after one quarter, and trailed 31-18 at the break. But the second half saw the Cardinals claw back, as they outscored Ludington by three in the third and then by six in the fourth, thought it wasn’t enough

The Cardinals had 10 players in the scoring column, led by Kristen Reidenbach with 11 points, while Kalli Wahr added eight points and Claire Flewelling finished with seven for Orchard View.

Jayshonna Blackshire led the Cardinals with a game-high 15 points, while Shanice Dixon and Chelsie Mash-McGee both totaled 10 points in the loss.
