North Muskegon’s girls basketball team led early in the opening quarter before dropping a 39-31 West Michigan Conference game.

The Tigers rallied to take a 15-12 lead after the opening quarter and led 30-21 at the half.

NM closed to within two points in the third quarter, but could get no closer.

Both teams struggled from the foul line as Shelby was Shelby 13-of-27 and NM was 3-of-12.

“I am proud of the way our girls played competitively,” said North Muskegon coach Doug Clark. “We need to play with that intensity to hang with a good team like Shelby. Hopefully, it will carry over into our last three games and continue into districts.”

Chloe Sillman and Jozilyn Kinstner both scored 12 points each to lead Shelby.

Abby Clark had nine points and three steals for NM and Olivia Duncan scored nine points and had three assists.
