The Shelby boys took a break Saturday night from West Michigan Conference action to travel to Orchard View.

It was worth the trip.

The Tigers (15-1, 10-1) narrowly won every quarter, and sunk 12-of-16 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to take the 64-54 victory.

Orchard View (0-15, 0-8) still is seeking its first win.

That doesn’t mean the Cardinals were pushovers. In fact, Shelby led by just two, 11-9 after one quarter and 26-22 at the break.

A 17-14 advantage in the third, and the aforementioned free throws in the fourth sealed the win.

Senior Devin Mussel led the way with 12 points in the win, while senior Brody Lee had 11, as did senior Adrew Beckman and sophomore Jeff Beckman.

Makari Taylor led all scorers with 19 points, and teammate, senior Brandon Edwards, added 12 points for the Cardinals.
