Spring Lake didn’t let a slow start stop it from beating Fruitport, 35-30 for a Lakes 8 boys basketball win. The win means the Lakers will share the Lakes 8 title.
The Lakers could not find the basket in the first quarter as Fruitport held a 6-2 lead. Spring Lake continued to struggle in the second quarter as the Trojans led 16-9 at halftime.
The third quarter was a different story for the Lakers as they reversed their halftime deficit with 18 points in the quarter, taking a 27-20 lead.
Kyle Zietlow led Spring Lake with 12 points and three steals. Keegan George put in 10 points and had three blocks. Big man Nick Goeglein was held to just six points, five rebounds and two blocks.
Fruitports Luke Brow led with nine points while Antonio Flores added seven points. Travis Grimm had five steals and four assists.
