The Mona Shores Sailor boys basketball team used a dominating first quarter to hold off OK Black Conference rival Kenowa Hills 56-48.

The visiting Sailors (13-5, 7-3) blasted out to the 15-2 lead, but the Knights battled back with 19-10 edge in the second to trail just four, 25-21, at the break.

The Shores (13-5, 7-3) lead went to seven after three, and the Knights were unable to mount an effective comeback in the final frame.

Sailor senior guard Marcus Tumblin led the way with a game-high 20 points, with senior forward Logan Haugh scored 11 and sophomore Kobe Broersma added 10 for Shores.

Josh Fransted led Kenowa Hills (8-10, 3-7) with 14 points.
