ALLENDALE — West Michigan schools are expected to be among the participants when Grand Valley State University hosts its Laker Challenge 2014 indoor prep track meet starting Wednesday.

The three-day meet features competition in at least four field events and eight running events, including two relays.

Among the West Michigan teams expected to send participants are Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Ludington and Western Michigan Christian.

The three-day format has Division I and II boys teams competing on Wednesday starting at 4 p.m.

The Division I and II girls teams will compete on Thursday starting at 4 p.m.

The Division III and IV boys and girls teams will compete on Friday starting at 2 p.m.

The meet will be in the Kelly Family Sports Center on GVSU’s Allendale campus.

Field events scheduled are the long jump, shot put, pole vault and high jump. There are limits on the number of entries in each event per school in the field events and running events. Two circles will be used for the shot put event

The running event schedule has 60-meter hurdle prelims, 60-meter dash prelims, a four-by-600-meter relay, a 1,600-meter run, a 400-meter dash, the 60-meter hurdle finals, the 60-yard dash finals, an 800-meter run, the 200-meter dash and a four-by-300-meter relay. There will be two eight-runner heats for the finals in the hurdles and 60-meter dash.

Results from each day’s competition will be posted on-line at gvsulakers.com by noon the following day.

Admission for spectators is $5 per person with all spectators required to stay on the upper level. The Grand Valley facility features a large video board with un-official results and live video of the action for spectators.
