The Fremont boys bowling team made history on Saturday winning the Division 3 state championship.

Bowling the second-highest score as a team in the MHSAA state finals history since the format changed, Fremont came through with a 1291. That score was good enough to top Pinconning’s 1203.

Fremont overcame a slow start in its first Bake game after it trailed 231-225. The Packers responded a 201 in the second Baker matchup and a 970 as team in the final round. Both scores well out of reach for Pinconning who bowled a 152 in its second Baker game and an 829 in the final round.

Not only did the Packers as a team have an incredible day, so did Sam Brandt. The senior bowler won the individual state championship with a 414 two-game series which was better than Jackson Lumen Christi’s 332 series from Zach Ulicny. Brandt bowled games of 203 and 211 in the championship.

As a team, Fremont was led by Brand who bowled a 268 in his final round. Jeremy Pikaart followed up with a 231 and Make Marsol rolled a 203. Jacob Grabill scored a 144 and Sean Vincent bowled a 124.
