Grand Haven’s boys bowling team had high hopes of winning a bowling state championship on Saturday but fell just short. The Bucs fell to Detroit U-D Jesuit in the finals.

The Bucs bowled a 995 as a team in the last day of competition but it was not enough to earn the win. Detroit came out on top with a 1409 vs. Grand Haven’s 1360.

Grand Haven could not dig itself out of a big deficit following the opening round of Baker games. The Bucs bowled a 171 against Detroit’s 231.

Justin White led Grand Haven with 229 in the final match while Kaleb Schmidt follwed with a 199 score. Jimmy Mitchell bowled a 192, Brennan Batka rolled a 189 and Joel Collins put up a 186.
