Mason County Central’s boys basketball season ended in the Class B regional finals on Wednesday night as the Spartans fell to Cadillac 46-42.

Cadillac advances to face Big Rapids in the Class B quarterfinals on Tuesday night at Ferris State University. This victory gave Cadillac four straight regional championships.

The teams were tied 21-21 at halftime, but Mason County Central took a 34-30 lead in to the final quarter.

Cadillac rallied for the win by outscoring MCC 16-8 in the final quarter.

“Really the whole game was back and forth, back and forth.” said a dispointed MCC coach Jeff Tuka. “They were able to ice the game at the end.”

The Spartans outrebounded Cadillac by nine despite the loss.

Turnovers were an issue down the stretch for the Spartans as they committed 17 turnovers in the game, many of them unforced which turned into points for Cadillac.

The loss for the Spartans closes their season with a 19-5 record.

Kody Ambrose led the Spartans with 14 points, including three baskets behind the three point line in the third, and Anders Asiala added 11.

Ambrose ended up with 1,278 points for his career. Fourth on school’s all-time list. Behind Jeremy Holmes
