Mona Shores pitcher Sam Curran battled a pesky East Kentwood team and held on for a 5-4 win on Wednesday in non-conference action.

Curran pitched all seven innings and dug out in the seventh after East Kentwood loaded the bases with one out.

The Sailors jumped on the board in the first inning and added runs in the third and fourth innings and put up two more in the fifth. Dugan Dieselberg had two hits and an RBI for Mona Shores while Tyler Trovinger had a hit and an RBI. Also getting hits for Mona Shores were Noah Dykstra and Mason Norden.

Kent City 2, Calvin Christian 1: The Kent City baseball team scored two runs in the third inning Wednesday then held on for the O-K Silver Conference  win. The two-run inning came courtesy of RBI hits from Jake Krueger and Luke Scheuneman.  Krueger, Nick Alt and Ben Cebelak all had two hits on the night for Kent City. Krueger was also strong on the mound, pitching a complete game three-hitter with six strikeouts and four walks. Kent City improved to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

Fruitport 12-4, Western Michigan Christian 0-3: The Trojans took an early five-run lead in the first inning of Game 1. In Game 2, Fruitport scored on an error in the top of the seventh to take the win. Eric Bourdo led WMC with two hits while Logan and Cam Waller had two hits apiece.
