The Muskegon Community College softball squad dominated visiting Glen Oaks Community College, raking up two blowout wins, 17-1 and 17-2, at Friday’s doubleheader.

In Game 1, the host Jayhawks got a two-run single from Sarah Ferenz and a two-run triple from Hayley Brockelbank in the first inning, and a triple from Megan Jean in the second to jump out to the big lead.

Jean went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, banging out extra-base hits at all three of those at-bats and finishing with four RBI. Teammate Mary Guidice had two hits and two RBI for the Jayhawks..

Brockelbank picked up the win, tossing two scoreless innings, needing just 17 pitches to sit Glen Oaks’ first six batters.

Game 2 was a bit more dramatic, as the Jayhawks busted loose for nine runs in the third. Meghan Birr finished with three hits and four RBIs, with Alyson Behnke, Jessica Gillings, Guidice, and Jean all adding two RBIs apiece.

Jean allowed four hits and two runs across 3.1 innings to get the win, with Brockelbank surrendering no hits or walks in relief.
