As if a Class A state championship wasn’t enough for Muskegon Big Red coach Keith Guy, he’s now gearing up to serve as an assistant coach at the 13th annual Jordan Brand Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The Friday, April 18 event will feature 26 of the country’s top high school basketball players and is considered the nation’s premier prep all-star game. Alumni include NBA standouts LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Blake Griffin, just to name a few.

The Barclays Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets, will host the event and ESPN2 will broadcast it live on national television.

Coach Guy was invited to be an assistant at the Jordan Brand Classic after his team’s stellar performance this past season.

“It’s going to be a learning experience for me,” said Guy about his invitation to the Jordan Brand Classic. “I’m going to go down there and get what I can and bring it back to Muskegon to help others get farther.”

Guy traveled to New York this past Tuesday and has been involved in practices, walkthroughs, media day and a banquet celebrating the athletes and coaches.

This is not the first time Guy has been involved with Nike. His first experience happened when he attended the Nike Global Challenge in 2010.

“I’m a big fan of Nike,” said Guy. “The Global Challenge was like an Olympic games for high schoolers at the headquarters in Portland. It was great to be around the pros and I know this event in Brooklyn will be even better.”
