MUSKEGON — Ten meet records fell Friday April 18 in the 14th Annual Rocket Invite track meet at Reeths-Puffer High School, but only one involved an area athlete.

Chloe Fox, of host Reeths-Puffer, cleared five-feet-four-inches in the girls’ high jump to set a new meet record in that event. She broke the old mark of five-feet-three-inches set by Jill Johnson of Grand Haven in 2002.

Ludington’s Orioles had the best team performances among area schools. Ludington won both the boys’ and girls’ team titles among the smaller schools in the White Division.

The Orioles won the girls’ title with 141 points and the boys’ crown with 120 points.

Lauren Biggs won both the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs to pace Ludington in the girls’ competition. The Orioles also got first places from their 400- and 800-meter relay teams, Brandy Thomas in the shot put and Amy Grace Shoop in the pole vault.

Other individual winners in the White Division were Hannah Rodenberger of Fremont in the 100-meter hurdles and Orchard View’s Brittany Parker in the 400-meter dash.

In the Green Division competition for the girls’ teams, Mona Shores won the 800-meter relay event while Fox had the forementioned first place in the high jump.

Benzie Central finished second in the White Division standings for the girls’ teams with 127.50 points. Manistee had 106 points, Fremont 46.50, Orchard View 42, Saugatuck 35 and North Muskegon 25.

In the girls’ Green Division, Hudsonville took the team title with 204 points. Traverse City West had 120 points, Reeths-Puffer 80, Mona Shores 49, Holland 45 and Fruitport 28.

In the boys’ competition, Ludington rolled up 120 points for the White Division team title while Saugatuck had 102.50 for second place. Benzie Central had 91 points, Manistee 58, Orchard View 53.50, Fremont 51, North Muskegon 46 and Holton one.

Individual winners in that division included the 400- and 800-meter relay teams for Ludington and discus thrower Allen Keffer for the Orioles. Also winning events were North Muskegon’s Jacob Walton in the pole vault; and Walker Christoffersen, of Fremont, in the long jump.

The Green Division final standings had Traverse City Central running up 228.50 points as its athletes set meet records in five events. Mona Shores had 73 points for second place, Traverse City West 67, Fruitport 56, Hudsonville 45.50, Reeths-Puffer 39 and Holland 18.

Adreon Billups won the high jump by clearing 6 feet three inches  and the long jump with a 19-feet, 8 1/2 inch effort for Mona Shores in the boys’ Green Division.

Mona Shores had two of the other area winners: the 400-meter relay team in 44.43 seconds and sprinter Marquon Sargent in the 100-meter dash with an 11.19-second clocking.

The other area first place went to Jalen Cooley, of Reeths-Puffer, in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.26 seconds.

Four meet records fell on the girls’ side and six in the boys’ events. Reeths-Puffer has hosted the meet each year since 2001.
