Holton was handed its first CSAA loss of the season by Hesperia, the two teams split their softball doubleheader on Friday. Holton won Game 1 18-4 but the Panthers came out victorious 6-5 in the nightcap.
Rachel Younts posted the win on the mound in the opener as Holton (8-2, 5-1) bats backed up with five runs in the third and fifth innings and seven more in the seventh. Jackie Stone had a pair of doubles and three RBI while Younts had a double and two RBI at the plate for Holton.
Hesperia’s Holly Whelan had a pair of hits in Game 1.
In Game 2, Hesperia (7-3, 4-2) scored five runs in the sixth to break a 3-1 deficit in the bottom of the sixth. Mera Schmitz led the Panthers with two hits and three RBI.
Katie Annis pitched in the Hesperia win which came against a state ranked Holton team.
