Mackayla Zimmer’s goal about 24 minutes into the game gave the Oakridge girls soccer team a 1-0 victory over Whitehall Wednesday and the West Michigan Conference championship.

Goalkeeper Nicky Wall got the shutout for Oakridge. Summer Messerchmidt had an assist on the goal for Oakridge.

The conference title was the third in a row for the Eagles and their eighth since 2005.

Western Michigan Christian 4  Newaygo 1: Jessica Kinnucan had two goals for the Warriors, who improved to 13-1-1 on the season. Alyssa Benedict and Alexys Riksen each added single goals in the victory. The Warriors outshot Newaygo 19-6.
