Western Michigan Christian earned a 6-1 victory over rival Muskegon Catholic in soccer on Thursday. The Warriors used a balanced effort by scoring three goals in each half.

“A rivalry game is always tough, no matter what the score,” said WMC coach David Hulings. “This might have been a lopsided score, but play for play it was still a rivalry game.” 

Kati South put WMC on the board 1-0 early in the match, Alexys Riksen followed up with another goal and a Brea Frein goal put the Warriors up 3-0 at halftime.

WMC added second-half goals from Alyssa Benedict and two from Jessica Kinnucan.

The Crusaders found the net on a Hailee McKenna goal late in the game.

The Warriors outshot MCC 10-6 as goalie Lindsey Johnson posted the win.

Orchard View 4, Whitehall 0: The Cardinals used three first- half goals to top Whitehall as Kaylee Harrell scored two goals. Amanda Skidmore tallied a goal and two assists and Rachel Darwin added a goal for OV. Elisha Stone and Brianna Wade both had assists for the Cardinals. Megan McFarland posted the shutout with two saves.
