Western Michigan Christian played its last game of the regular season and took a 3-1 win over Orchard View in non-league soccer action on Thursday.

Alexys Riksen scored the first of her two goals early in the first half to put WMC up 1-0. Riksen put the Warriors up 2-1 with less than 10 minutes left in the opening half.

Orchard View’sĀ Amanda Skidmore tied the score 1-1 off an Ellisha Stone assist. Skidmore’s goal came with 26 minutes left to play in the first half.

WMC secured the win after Alyssa Benedict scored to give the Warriors breathing room with the 3-1 lead. Riksen assisted on the play.

“This was a great tune up for the tournament for both teams,” said WMC coach David Hulings. “It was a competitive game and we needed it to get ready for next week. Our four seniors played really well for their last game of the regular season and now we are looking for them to lead us into the next level.”

WMC was outshot by Orchard View 13-10 as goalie Lindsey Johnson posted the win with 12 saves.

Goalie Megan McFarland had 10 saves in the loss for the Cardinals.
