Membership in a professional sports hall of fame is a rarity.

Add former Muskegon Mohawk radio announcer Eric Nadel to that short list of greats with ties to Muskegon.

Eric Nadel, pictured in front of Comerica Park in Detroit, will be honored for his accomplishments in the radio booth for the Texas Rangers. He will be recognized in late July in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Current Muskegon Lumberjack general manager John Vanbiesbrouck is a member of the United States Hockey Hall of Fame. He was inducted in 2007.

Nadel will receive the Ford C. Frick Award for Broadcasting Excellence in Cooperstown, N.Y., on July 26. Nadel a former hockey radio broadcaster turned baseball broadcaster is the longtime voice of the Texas Rangers of the American League.

The Awards Presentation will be at 4:30 p.m. at Doubleday Field there with a Parade of Legends set for 6 p.m. on July 26

The Induction Ceremony will be on Sunday, July 27 at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown. Tickets for the Induction Ceremony are free and lawn seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
