The Grand Rapids Griffins have hired Dave Noel Bernier as an assistant coach for the upcoming season.

Noel-Bernier played two seasons for the Muskegon Fury (2003-04, 2006-07) and was a member of the 2004 championship team  when they went a perfect 11-0 in the playoffs.

The Montmagny, Quebec native spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the current Muskegon Lumberjacks of the United States Hockey League (2010-13).

Noel-Bernier joins a Griffins coaching staff that is led by head coach Jeff Blashill.

“Dave comes to the Griffins highly recommended by a number of people I trust,” said Blashill. “He has a great work ethic, is very intelligent and is detail oriented, and his experience at Nebrask-Omaha and with the Muskegon Lumberjacks will be a great asset for our staff.”

Noel-Bernier played four seasons at the collegiate level for the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he tallied 50 points in 138 career games. He also played six seasons at the minor professional level.
