WYOMING — The Muskegon Heights football team mourned one of its teammates that passed away last week on Thursday. On the same day of their friend’s funeral, the Tigers played a football game and came up short to Godwin Heights 42-12.

“I was just telling my coach on the ride back, it was a week ago today that he got killed,” Muskegon Heights head coach Jimmy Purnell said. “How can you ask them to play when their best friend is like this. But we’re going to get back at it tomorrow; keep on fighting and hold this team together. It’s still a special season for us. Just going to come back and keep playing hard.”

KeyAndre Collins threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Pherius Flowers and D’Montae Jones hauled in a 25-yard score, also from Flowers.

Jalen Harris gained 65 yards on just two carries and Flowers racked up 60 yards on six carries. Johnson tallied five tackles.
