Whitehall native Nate McLouth has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Washington Nationals after undergoing an MRI to determine the cause of a right shoulder problem.
The shoulder issue had been kept out of the media until Monday. McLouth most likely hurt his shoulder on a diving catch against Miami on July 28th, according to published reports.
The Nationals have recalled outfield prospect Steven Souza Jr. from Syracuse to take McLouth’s spot on the roster.
McLouth has struggled at the plate for the Nationals this season, batting just .173. He had only 16 at bats in July and started just once in the month. On the season, he has seven RBIs and one home run.
