The No. 17-ranked Muskegon Community College Jayhawks overcame a slow start and defeated Kellogg Community College 19-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-11.

The first set proved to be difficult for the Jayhawks as they only produced seven kills and two aces while committing 18 errors. The Bruins’ aggressive serving was tough to handle for the Jayhawks, giving KCC easy transition points and keeping the Jayhawks’ electric offense at bay.

However, the final three sets tilted to the Jayhawks, especially their passing as it allowed more opportunities for the offense. They collected 17 kills in the second set and 14 in the third.

The Jayhawks improve their record to 3-1 in the conference and 8-6 overall.

Jayhawk leaders were Brandie Jones with 18 kills, three aces, and 10 digs. Meghan Birr collected 41 assists, seven kills, three aces, two blocks and 10 digs. Autumn Winger had four aces, 6 kills, and two blocks. Brooke Morgan led the team in digs with 12 and Morgan Kelley had three blocks, 11 digs, and 10 kills.
