Fruitport topped Fremont 34-20 for their first victory of the season on Friday. Nathan Kriger led the Trojans with three rushing touchdowns.

Kriger lifted Fruitport to a 19-7 halftime lead on a pair of touchdown runs from 55 and 10 yards out. The senior added his third TD from 18 yards out in the fourth quarter and finished with 177 yards rushing on 22 attempts.

Fremont opened up with a 7-0 lead in the first quarter off a 42-yard touchdown catch by Will Hawkins from Christian Wade. The Packer QB was 20 of 36 passing for 255 yards and a pair of TD passes.

Cody Rabach responded for Fruitport on a 9-yard TD pass from Jarod Wierengo. The scored capped a 46-yard drive on four Trojan plays. Wierengo finished 4 of 7 passing for 92 yards and two touchdown passes.

The Packers kept the Trojans in check early in the third quarter with a TD catch by Colin Howell from seven yards out to make the score 19-14.

Kriger put Fruitport up 27-14 to start the fourth quarter and Antonio Flores put the game out of reach on a 44-yard TD strike off a pass from Wierengo.

Levi Six led Fruitport with 11 tackles, 2 of those for loss. Kriger and Nick Kramer both had 10 tackles as well.

Fremont’s Brandon Harris finished with nine catches for 108 yards and Hawkins had four catches on 98 yards receiving. Blake Locke had a 1-yard TD rush.

The Packers were led on defense by Jordan Vogel with 12 tackles.
