Ben Mast scored twice in the second half, giving the Western Michigan Christian soccer team a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Northpointe Christian Tuesday in a non-league soccer matchup.

Eli VanderVelde opened the scoring about 10 seconds into the match for WMC.  Northpointe Christian’s Kenjin Czaplicki caught a breakaway and scored with 16 minutes left in the half. tying the game 1-1.

Eight minutes later, Northpointe Christian took the lead on a twenty yard shot by midfielder Clay Sturgeon that ripped into the top corner of the goal. Shortly after, the Northpointe Christian goalie misplayed a ball, allowing  WMC’s Will Deur to tie the score at halftime.

Mast followed with his two goals in the second half, putting the Warriors in control. The Mustangs got a late goal on a penalty kick by Sturgeon, but it was too little, too late.

Grand Haven 3, Mona Shores 1Mason Hatloff scored two goals to help Grand Haven down Mona Shores in non-league action. Nate Hoover scored for Mona Shores with an assist from Jacob DeRemer. Grand Haven improved to 4-0-1.

Reeths-Puffer 1, Spring Lake 1 –  Spring Lake’s Keegan George netted a goal just before halftime to give the Lakers the lead. Reeths-Puffer’s Alex Mavis cleaned up a deflection following his fifteen yard shot with two seconds left to tie the game.
