For all practical purposes, the Spring Lake girls golf team tied Kalamazoo Hackett for first place Monday at the Mona Shores Invitational tournament.

The top four shooters on both teams combined for a score of 356 at the end of play.

But the fifth highest score on each team became the tie-breaker, and Kalamazoo Hackett was two shots better to claim the title.

No. 1 golfer for Spring Lake, Anna Kramer, was the overall tournament medalist with an 82. Kayla Krueger shot an 88, Ginnie Olszewskki put up a 95 and Jaedyn Shelton scored a 98. Fifth golfer Madelyn Nelson came just two strokes from tying Hackett’s fifth shooter with a 91.

Mona Shores finished third with a 382 team total. Sami Pyman led the Sailors with an 89, followed by Rylee George with 92, Darian Smith with 100 and Kendall McKinley at 101.

Fifth-place Reeths-Puffer was led by Mikaela VanDuinen with a 94. Hanna Moss shot a 100 for the Rockets, Karlee Hallberg scored a 110 and Libby Loker added a 121.

Muskegon Catholic placed sixth, with Lauren Bliss finishing with a 103. Alyssa Delora shot a 112, Sena Precious put up a 123 and Madi Grevel added a 128 for the Crusaders.
