Robbie DeMontis scored a tie-breaking goal in the third period, then David Keefer added an open net tally, giving the Muskegon Lumberjacks a 4-2 victory over the Lincoln Stars Sunday in their final game at the USHL Atlantic Challenge in East Meadow, New York.

The win improved the Lumberjacks’ preseason record to 2-1.

Muskegon’s Cooper Marody scored the only goal of the first period, with assists from Keefer and David Trinkberger.

Lincoln tied the score 1-1 in the second period with a goal from Jared Bethune. The Lumberjacks went back on top a few minutes later on Marody’s second goal, which was assisted by Trinkberger and Mitch Eliot.

Patrick Polino scored a power play goal for Lincoln before the end of the second period, tying the score 2-2. DeMontis and Keefer produced the decisive goals in the third period.

Muskegon outshot Lincoln 30-27. Michael Latorella got the win in goal for the Lumberjacks.
