Christian Wade’s three rushing touchdowns sparked Fremont to a 28-0 Lakes 8 Conference win Friday against Ludington.

“Fremont came in and established themselves as a physical football team tonight,” Ludington head coach Charlie Gunsell said. “It was 7-0 at the half, but we couldn’t mount any consistency on offense in the second half.”

Neither team was  in contention for the playoffs, it doesn’t mean that the Orioles will be going into practice this week with their heads down.

“Our obligation is to go back to work,” Gunsell said.

Fremont opened the scoring with an impressive 98-yard drive, capped by Wade’s 1-yard TD run.

In the third quarter, after an interception, Fremont sophomore running back Walker Christoffersen darted 40 yards for a touchdown. Wade would also find the end zone again, giving Fremont a 21-0 lead.

The final score came from Wade in the fourth quarter on another 1-yard touchdown scamper.

For the Orioles, quarterback Logan Sorensen rushed 15 times for 40 yards, with 109 yards passing. Ryan Bowen had two catches for 44 yards. Leading the defense was Alex English with nine tackles.

The Orioles dropped to 1-6 overall and 0-5 in conference play, while the Packers improved to 2-6 and 1-4.
