Nearly two months of hard work finally paid off for the Hesperia Panthers, who broke into the victory column Friday with a 42-15 victory over White Cloud in Central State Activities Association football action.

The Panthers, now 1-5 on the season, used a potent running attack to bury the Indians. Brandon Goins led the way with 135 yards and three touchdowns, Joe Allen added 121 yards with three touchdowns, and Adrian Castillo chipped in 56 yards on the ground.

Hesperia only led 8-7 after one quarter and 14-7 at halftime, but pulled away with two unanswered touchdowns in the third quarter.

“We had been in a similar position earlier in the year when we had the lead but didn’t close it down and seal the deal,” said Hesperia Coach Aaron Sims. “Tonight the kids came out and did what they had to do.”

Terry Doran led the Panthers defensively with 10 tackles, while Trent Roesly, Tyler Quinn and Hunter Buchanan added nine stops apiece.
