Spencer Knizacky’s 20-yard touchdown run in the third quarter gave Mason County Central a 14-7 victory over Montague Friday in West Michigan Conference football action.
Knizacky rushed for 79 yards on 22 rushes.
The Spartans started the scoring in the second quarter with a 10-yard touchdown reception by Colton Tyndall from quarterback Knizacky.
The PAT failed, leaving MCC up 6-0.
Montague (0-6 overall, 0-5 in the conference) took the lead on a 32-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jacob Buchberger to Brandon Wemple. Kicker Eddie Caviedes’ extra point gave the Wildcats a 7-6 lead at the half.
Buchberger was 4-for-11 passing for 67 yards while Caviedes led the Wildcats in rushing yards with 91.
Knizacky scored the only touchdown of the second half for Mason County Central, which improved to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in the league. Sean Wells ran in the two-point conversion for the Spartans.
Wells led the Spartan defense with 15 tackles while Austin MacDougall added 13.
