Muskegon’s Daniel Sischo tallied a three-goal hat trick in the Big Reds’ 6-0 shutout of Muskegon Catholic in non-league boys soccer on Monday. Sischo also had an assist in the win.

Muskegon raced to a 3-0 halftime lead and never looked back.

Miguel Flores also stood out in the balanced Big Red attack with three assists and a goal. Two of his assists came off throw-ins to Sischo, who was able to find the net with headers.

“I was very happy to see Miguel (Flores) take more of the facilitator role tonight,” said Muskegon coach Jeff Holmes. “He’s a fantastic goal scorer, but he was looking to get everyone involved tonight.”

Sophomore Demetrio Lopez added a goal, as did Jose Hernandez off a penalty shot. Jesus Padilla posted an assist.

“We celebrated senior night tonight and five of our six goals were scored by our seniors,” said Holmes. “I was pleased with the pressure we applied in the second half, and the comfortable lead allowed us to use a lot of our bench tonight.”

Jake VanHoesen had the win in goal for Muskegon with three saves.

Muskegon faces a pair of tough O-K Black Conference matchups this week with Reeths-Puffer at home on Tuesday and at Mona Shores on Thursday.
