The Muskegon Community College mens soccer team has had a rough season, posting a 3-13 record to date.

But the Jayhawks got a big win over the weekend, keeping them alive in the chase for a spot in the upcoming Region 12 postseason tournament.

MCC downed Jackson College Sunday 3-2 in a comeback victory. Jackson jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the Jayhawks struck  back and stole the win with goals from Chaise SchuitemanJacob Kring and Emmit Mikkelson.

Charlie Wick, John Waller and Brandon Edwards had assists for MCC. Goalie Jacob Berens made five saves to seal the win.

The victory left the Jayhawks two points out of the last regional playoff spot. The top six teams in the region qualify.

MCC plays three crucial games this week, all at Mona Shores High School, against Lake Michigan Community College Wednesday at 4 p.m., Cuyahoga Community College Saturday at 1 p.m. and Lakeland Community College Sunday at 1 p.m.

A three-game sweep would guarantee a playoff spot for the Jayhawks and two wins would keep them in the chase.
