North Muskegon Norsemen won a high-scoring affair against non-conference foe Hesperia 42-25 in Friday night football action.

The Norsemen held onto their slim playoff hopes with their fifth win of the season. Hesperia falls to 1-8 to end its season.

North Muskegon racked up 411 yards in total offense, including over 300 on the ground. Logan Waller led the way with 21 carries, 161 yards and three touchdowns. Waller also passed for 107 yards and a score.

Vernonell Smith had 99 yards and a touchdown. Mitchell Edick had 42 yards receiving and a touchdown and Riley Fairfield led the Norsemen with 54 yards receiving.

Hesperia took the lead on a Brandon Goins three-yard run to go up 6-0 with 6:13 left in the first quarter. Waller and Smith both had touchdown runs of 40-plus yards to put North Muskegon up 14-6 after one.

The teams traded touchdowns in the second quarter, with the Norsemen holding onto a 21-13 lead.

Waller scored the only third quarter touchdown on a 25-yard run. North Muskegon led 28-13 after three quarters.

Waller scored his third touchdown on a nine-yard run in the fourth quarter, then Smith intercepted a pass and ran 25 yards for a score.

Kade Witte added two late touchdown runs for Hesperia.
