The Whitehall volleyball team got off to a strong start in Class B volleyball districts with a 3-0 victory over Orchard View on Monday.

The Vikings won by scores of 25-4, 25-11 and 25-8.

Alyssa Myers had 26 assists and three aces for Whitehall. Bri Copley had five aces, six digs and four kills while Rachel Brown had five aces and four kills and Julie Brown had added aces and eight kills for the winners.

Whitehall will play Coopersville Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the district semifinals on its home court.

Class A at Kenowa Hills

Fruitport 3, Muskegon 0 – The Trojans won 25-8, 25-5, 25-10. Sammy Hockstra led Fruitport in serving with nine aces while Claire McWilliams had five. Alyssa Veihl had 19 assists while Marissa Hassevort posted eight digs and five aces. Fruitport advances to play Grand Haven in a semifinal matchup Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Class B at Fremont

Grant 3, Sparta 1 –  The Tigers won 25-10, 25-21, 19-25,25-19. Sierra Schuitema led Grant with 39 assists, 15 digs, three kills, three blocks and two aces. Dayna Wood had 11 kills, 10 digs, three aces and two blocks while Laura Bouwkamp had 15 kills and four digs. Grant will play Tri-County Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Class C at Shelby

Shelby 3, Montague 0 –  The Tigers won 25-16, 26-14, 25-16. Sarajane Fortier led Shelby in assists with 27 while McKenna Peters had 27 services points, six aces and eight kills. Chloe Sillman had 12 services points, two aces, 15 digs, four blocks and six kills. Hannah Deblois added 12 kills and Deanna Gray had 14 digs for the Tigers. Shelby advances to play Mason County Central in Wednesday’s semifinals at 5:30 p.m.

Hart 3, Hesperia 2 – Despite dropping the first two games 25-20 and 25-21, the Pirates stormed back to win three straight games 25-17, 25-18 and 15-10. The Pirates will play Holton in Wednesday’s semifinals at 7 p.m.
