The sudden emergence of winter weather has convinced Muskegon Catholic Central High School officials to move their football team’s Saturday playoff game from their home field to Grand Haven High School.

The MCC-Mendon contest, a Division 8 regional, will played at 1 p.m. Saturday at Grand Haven’s stadium at 17001 Ferris Street.

Concern over having a football game on the natural turf at MCC’s Kehren Stadium was the reason for the move, according to MCC Athletic Director Erich Adams. Grand Haven has artificial turn on its football field.

“Due to the abrupt snow and ever unpredictable Michigan weather, we are again putting concern for the safety of our student-athletes at the forefront, above all else, and graciously accepting this opportunity,” Adams said.

“On behalf of Muskegon Catholic Central, I would like to thank Grand Haven High School for their willingness to host and I bid all of you safe travels Saturday and to certainly enjoy a great football game.”

Tickets will continue to be sold at Muskegon Catholic for the rest of the week. They will also be available at the main gate at the stadium in Grand Haven.
