The Muskegon Community College volleyball team nearly kept its season alive Sunday, advancing all the way to the NJCAA Region 12 tournament finals before falling  to Grand Rapids Community College 25-22, 25-14, 25-17.

Meghan Birr and Brandi Jones were both named to the Region 12 All Tournament Team for MCC.

The Jayhawks reached the finals with a win over Cincinnati State in three sets. MCC won 25-20, 25-21, and 25-18. The win avenged an earlier loss to Cincinnati State the day before.

Morgan Kelly led MCC in kills in the tournament with 25 . Birr had 71 assists and 20 digs and Brandi Jones had 20 kills. Lindsey Kotecki had 12 kills and 23 digs and Dani Jones had 11 kills and three blocks. Veronica Booth had 29 digs and three aces and Autumn Winger posted three aces for MCC.

The Jayhawks finished their season with a 24-15 record.
