The Muskegon Big Reds continue to roll.

After 28 straight victories and a state championship last season, a season opening match up with the Rockford Rams loomed large on the schedule.

Just as last season went, Muskegon was up to the task, dismantling
Rockford 79-49 Friday on the Rams’ home court.

“Getting an opportunity to compete and come out on the top of a good
Rockford team is always good,” said Muskegon Coach Keith Guy. “We
played good defense and maintained it all the way through.”

Deyonta Davis led the way with 24 points, 12 rebounds and three
blocks despite getting in early foul trouble. Joeviair Kennedy scored
15 with eight rebounds of his own.

The Big Reds led 41-30 at halftime and outscored the Rams 38-19 in the
second half.

“I thought we played better in the second half,” Guy said. “We’re just
excited to be back on the court.”

Next up for the Big Reds is a trip to the east side of the state to
take on Saginaw Arthur Hill on Dec. 20.
