The Holton girls basketball team (2-0) used a 15-6 first quarter advantage and 14-0 third quarter burst to down Newaygo 56-36 Tuesday in non-league action.

Rachel Younts led the Red Devils (2-0) with 21 points.Jackie Stone added 13 points and nine rebounds and Katie Wildfong had three steals. Riley Knight led Newaygo (1-1) with 18 points.

Kent City 55, Coopersville 44 – The Eagles (2-0) outscored Coopersville 19-7 in the second quarter and led 31-17 at the half. Kaitlyn Geers led the Eagles with 16 points while Meghan Boyd had 15.

Holland Black River 46, Hesperia 20 – The Panthers fell behind 22-7 at halftime. Marina Still led the Panthers with 12 points as they fell to 2-1 on the season.

Grandville Calvin Christian 44, Western Michigan Christian 28 – The Warriors (1-2) were outscored 17-5 in the third quarter. Lindsey Johnson had seven points and five rebounds while Melanie Weesies added seven points.
