Reeths-Puffer did all it could defensively against Grandville at the Grand Rapids Catholic holiday tournament Monday, but dropped a 45-38 decision.

The Rockets (1-3) owned a 20-16 halftime lead, but cold free-throw shooting put the game out of reach in the second half.

“I’m very pleased with our defense so far this year,” said Rocket coach David Ingles, whose team hasn’t given up more than 56 points in a game this season. “We just couldn’t score tonight.”

Jalen Cooley, Joey Olsen and Deandre Oakes-Owens each scored nine points to lead Reeths-Puffer. Tyler Miller added five rebounds.
