Hart hung on for dear life in a West Michigan Conference girls basketball victory over Mason County Central.

Hart led the entire game, including by double digits in the fourth quarter, before the Spartans pulled to within three points. In the end, Hart hung on for a 34-30 victory.

“We missed a lot of easy shots and, at times, struggled to hang onto the ball, but still managed to come away with a win,” Hart coach Karen McLouth said. “We’ve had three close games and have been playing well, so we knew it was a matter of time before we came away with a win.”

Baylee Draper led Hart with 12 points, 15 rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Yasmine Colon added 11 points while Madison Hegedus had six rebounds.

Shelby 53, North Muskegon 29 – The Tigers outscored the Norsemen 26-7 in the second half.  Jenny Beckman led the Tigers with 12 points while Chloe Sillman, Rachel Herin, and Brooke James each scored 10 points.  The Norsemen were led by Mya Duncan with 10 points.

Whitehall 57, Ravenna 40 – Emily MacArthur scored 17 points while Payton Bearup added 13 as the Vikings (1-4 overall, 1-3 West Michigan Conference) won their first game of the season. Whitehall led by one after the first quarter then pulled away by outscoring Ravenna 32-14 in the second and third quarters. Jessica McWatters paced the Bulldogs (1-4, 0-4) with 10 points, including three triples.

Holton 42, Grant 33 – The undefeated Red Devils (4-0) jumped out to a 14-4 lead after one quarter and never looked back. Courtney Slater had 12 points and seven rebounds for Holton while Rachel Younts added 12 points and five steals. Jacki Stone contributed eight rebounds and five assists.

Lakeview 40 Newaygo 29 – Madi Giese and Carli Arends each had six points and five rebounds on the night for the Lions. The Lions are now 1-3 on the year and 0-1 in conference play.
