The Muskegon Community College women’s basketball team broke out of a major slump in a big way Friday, downing Glen Oaks Community College 69-49 at home.

Point guard Morgan Giddings had a great game for the Jayhawks, who had lost six of their previous seven games. She recorded 18 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and six steals.

Giddings, who only stands 5-2, is currently second on the team in rebounding with 7.1 boards per game.

“Rebounding is toughness and position and Morgan is definitely tougher than opponents and a master at taking position from anyone on the floor,” said MCC Coach Rob Recknagel. “Additionally her ability to defend the best slasher on the opposing team and read defenses has been an emerging factor in the success of the Jayhawks.”

Taylor Brown had 18 points and seven rebounds for the Jayhawks while Dani Jones and Katie McKinnon grabbed 10 rebounds apiece.

MCC improved to 9-7 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
