The Mona Shores girls basketball team held on to defeat Rockford 49-44 behind a strong third quarter in which the Sailors had a 13-4 run.

The Sailors are now 8-1 on the season and will return to league action in their next game where they are 1-0.

Jordan Walker had 19 points and six rebounds to lead the Sailors.  Shamara Tumblin and Jena’a Mathews each added 10 points.

Mona Shores outrebounded Rockford 38-18.

Spring Lake 72, Shelby 35 – The Lakers (8-0) jumped out to a 27-10 lead after the first quarter and led 68-28 after three quarters.  Reiko Johnson led the Lakers with 21 points while Kelsee Zuidema had 20.  The Tigers were led by Rachel Herin and Chloe Sillman with 11 points each.

Fruitport Calvary Christian 89, GR NorthPointe Christian 72 – In a wide open, high-scoring affair, the Eagles (7-1) gunned down the Mustangs in a nonleague contest. Taylor Richards led FCC with 33 points and 17 rebounds, Allyson Richards added 26 points and 16 rebounds and Jordyn Hamilton pulled down 12 rebounds. Kelsey Morgan led NorthPointe with 23 points.

Holton 49, Tri-County 32 – The Red Devils took control by outscoring the Vikings 32-11 in the first half of the non-league contest. Rachel Younts led Holton (6-2) with 14 points, Courtney Slater had 11 points and 10 rebounds while Jacki Stonehad five steals and five assists. Ashley Bowen led Tri-County with 10 points.

Ludington 46 Cadillac 32 – The Ludington Orioles used team defense to protect their home court on Tuesday night. Cadillac was plagued by 31 turnovers. The Orioles were led by Mikayla Mesyar with 11 points. Ali Plamondon had eight points and 10 rebounds. Ludington improves to 9-3.

Hart 53 Mason County Eastern 27 – The Lady Pirates’ came up big on defense in a victory  over Mason County Eastern. The Pirates limited their opponent to four points in the second quarter and five points in the fourth quarter. Hart was led by Baylee Draper with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Jenny Herrygers also had 12 points on the night, while Madison Hegedus had eight points and nine rebounds. Hart improves to 5-6.

Kent City 64, Cedar Springs 41 – The Eagles led 27-19 at halftime. Bailey Freeland and Kaitlyn Geers led the Eagles with 16 points while Meghan Boyd had 12 points.

Newaygo 27, Grant 22 – Madi Giese scored 10 points and Riley Knight added eight to lead the Lions to a low-scoring victory over Grant. Dayna Wood, Brianna Louck and C.J. Freeman each scored four points for the Tigers.
