Amanda Merz had 18 points, nine rebounds and four assists, but it wasn’t enough as her Grand Haven girls basketball team dropped a 35-32 decision to Hudsonville Friday in O-K Red action.

Kasey DeSmit led Hudsonville’s balanced scoring attack with nine points.

ALLIANCE LEAGUE

Fruitport Calvary Christian 83, Kent City Algoma Christian 25 – The Eagles used their defense to dominate and cruise to victory. Taylor Richards led the way with 26 points and 10 rebounds while Allyson Richards scored 18 points and nabbed 11 rebounds. Hannah Roberts scored a career-high 18 points and recorded nine steals in the win. The Eagles also got 10 points and four steals from Kyleah Sutherland, while Jordyn Hamilton recorded six assists. Calvary Christian improved to 9-2 overall and 6-0 in conference play.

Kent City 73, Hesperia 28 – The Eagles jumped out to a 24-2 start and closed the game with a 24-1 run. Bailey Freeland led the Eagles with 18 points while McKenna Carlson added 15.
