Lakes 8 girls hoops: Orchard View sneaks past Fruitport, Spring Lake and Ludington win

The Orchard View girls basketball team used a 20-9 fourth quarter edge to grab a 35-32 victory Friday over Fruitport in Lakes 8 Conference action.

Jayshonna Blackshire led the Cardinals with 20 points while the Trojans were led by Iyana Brown with 16 points.

The Cardinals improved to 7-6 overall and 3-3 in the league while Fruitport fell to 7-6 and 3-3.

Spring Lake 52, Muskegon Catholic 28 – The Lakers led 24-10 at halftime and never looked back. Kelsee Zuidema and Nora Adkins led the Lakers with 13 points each. Zhane Harris led the Crusaders with 14 points.

Ludington 61, Fremont 21 – The Packers (2-10, 0-6) were able to keep it close for the first half, but in the second half the Orioles went on a run and pulled away. Kalli Wahr led the Orioles (11-3, 5-0) with 19 points while Brandy Thompson had 10 points and six rebounds. Lexi Bradley led the Packers with 15 points.
