The Muskegon Community College Women’s basketball lost for the sixth time in its last seven games with a 68-64 loss to Kellogg Community College on the road Wednesday.

The Jayhawks led at one point by 17 but couldn’t maintain the advantage. MCC was hurt by poor 3-point shooting, making only 4 of 25 attempts.

“Unfortunately we have reached a point where we will not be shooting 3’s until further notice,” said MCC Coach Rob Recknagel. “Our inability to attack the paint and score and get strong post ups with proper entries is killing us.

“We have not played 40 minutes of tough-minded basketball all season which is incredibly disappointing 15 games into a season.”

Kellogg’s Kayla Freeman, who averages 11 points per game, hurt MCC by scoring 27.

Morgan Giddings led the Jayhawks with 18 points, eight rebounds, seven steals and seven assists.

MCC, now 8-6, will host Glen Oaks Community College Friday at 5:30 p.m.
