They say team depth is crucial to play a strong four quarters of basketball.

The Reeths-Puffer boys basketball team challenged that theory Tuesday night.

The Rockets only dressed seven players, due to injuries and eligibility factors. And they trailed by three points after three quarters.

But they exploded in the fourth quarter, outscoring Ludington 23-9, to claim a big 55-44 non-league victory.

DeAndre Oakes-Owens led the fourth-quarter uprising, scoring all 10 of his points when they mattered most. Jordan Cooley added nine points in the fourth quarter.

Cooley finished with 19 points, Joey Olsen added 14, including four 3-pointers, while DeAngelo Williams scored 10 points.

Oakes-Owens added seven rebounds and six steals.

“We’ve dealt with adversity before and didn’t respond well,” said Reeths-Puffer Coach Dave Ingles, regarding his team’s fourth-quarter comeback. “Tonight we responded really well.”

Reeths-Puffer improved to 3-3 while Ludington dropped to 2-3.
